Critique Tess's handling of the volatile situation:
- What was positive about Tess's reaction to the rumored fight? What was negative?
- If you were Tess, how would you have handled the situation with Brenda?
- Do you think the author intends to teach 'tweens and young teenagers a lesson through Tess's decision and behavior? If so, what is that lesson?

The positive side would be mabey Richard will learn about Tess. Learn she is serious. Although, she did not take this to seriously. I would stand up and make Richard look like a fool with some sassy backtalk. I think Wendy Lichtman doesnt do it on perpouse, but yes she does. She teaches students, people will be jerks. You just deal with it. Oh,life!
The positive thing that Tess told Isabel that Richard sat the whole entire thing up and I don’t think there was a negative thing that Tess did. I would tell Brenda that I did not call her dumb and that it was all Richard. Is all ways tell the truth and make shore people understand what really happened.
The positive thing that Tess did was that she didn't go on with the fight, she didn't ignore the problem, but she knew that it was a lie so she went to Brenda and apologized. I don't think that Tess did anything negative at that point.
If I were Tess I would not be as positive I would have wt up to Brenda and said," I know that Richard is trying to get you to evedentally "beat me up" but you need to stop spreading rumors about it or you might lose your face...Have a good day!" :D
Yes, I think that the author is somehow trying to teach 'tweens' and young teenagers a lesson by using Tess as an example. I think that the lesson may be that you should just be yourself no matter what people do and don't let stupid little jokes and pranks hurt you. Shoot out of the water and stop hiding yourself. :)
Also something that would change would be relationships. Say you might be friends with someone now. but in ten years you might not be. this slope I see it being very gradual.
The positive was that she knew right off the bat that Richard had something to do with it. The negative was that she was kind of freaking out about the fight. Would have done the same thing Tess did, go up to her and say I am sorry. Yes; because when she found out what he had done she stopped the so called fight. Tess told her she was sorry even though she did not do anything.
The positive was trying to stop the fight. The negative thing was taking the apologizing seriously. I were tess jsut make her think they are going to fight but have a freind come out with a teacher at he same time the fight is supposed to start. Yes. I think the lesson is trying to show you what it can be like in middle school and how to handle it.
The positive is trying to stop the fight.I don't think Tess didn't do anything negative. If I were Tess I'd tell a teacher about the fight.
I think the lesson is not to tell rumors.
Tess was positive by working it out, and negative by worrying. I think if I were Tess, I would ignore it. I think the lesson is "Don't fight."
What is positive is that Brenda believed her.
What is negative is that Richard didn't get in trouble.
If i were Tess i would have just went up to Brenda and told her the truth just like Tess did.
I can't figure out something that the people would have learned.
I don't think Tess did anything negative but I would probably done something negative like getting Brenda on my side then getting a bunch of other people and gang up on Richard.
The positive part was that nobody got in big trouble.
I think the lesson is "try to find another way of solving things
1.The posotive thing Tess did about the fight was that she stayed calm and didn't get into the fight. Also, Richard found out that Tess isn't stupid. She knows it's all Richard trying to get back. She did the right thing about apologizing even if she didn't do it.I would've wanted to hunt down Richard and clobber him. There wasn't anything negative Tess did.
I wold have handled the situation okay.I guess.I would have gone to Brenda and said I did not say that and I am not going to fight her.And if she did I would defend myself but not fight her.il'm not going to be the one getting expelled.I'm not allowed to hit a girl.Except my sister, but usally it's her hitting me.
Yes,the author is trying to teach a lesson. And guess what the lesson is!!!! It's called " don't get yourself into humoungous problems like this one"!!!! Or it'l stay away from idiots ( Richard specifically)!!!!
The positive thing was that she went and talked it out with Brenda first. She also didn't go to the teacher and just say it was Richard because she had no proof. There was nothing negative about what Tess did.
I would have went up to Brenda and explained my side of the story. I would've been calm and not crazy about the rumor.
Yes, the lesson would be that you should not listen to rumors because there not always true.
The positive thing about the rumor is that she told the turth about richered. The nagitive thing about the rumor is theat richered did that to tess.If i was tess i would have gone to brenda and done the samething.Yes i think the lesson is that you should not fight.
#1: The positive reaction was that Tess went OVER to Brenda at lunch and talked about the rumor that was said that Brenda was going to fight Tess, and Tess worked out the situation with Brenda. I do not think Tess did a reaction that was negative.
#2: If I were Tess I would do the same thing she did, the thing that Tess did was very brave.
#3:Yes, the lesson was that it would be good to work things out yourself.
The positive thing about her reaction was that she talked to Brenda and explained that the fight wasn't necessary. The negative was that she was scared and worried.
She didn't think that Brenda would do it because she's usually quite and doesn't seem like the person who would hurt anyone. She started to think about how long it took her to say awnsers when the teacher asked her questions. She also thought about how much bigger she was and started to think if they did fight she would most likely lose.
Then i did think she was trying to teach the teens a lesson about what to do if this starts in your life that you should go and tell the person that it was a lie and that even if someone does say these things it doesn't allways mean that there true.
I would have done exactly what Tess did in that situation. I would go talk to Brenda about it.
I think the author is trying to teach a lesson which was that if someone is supposedly supposed to fight you then you should just talk to them about it and work something out.
1:The positive reaction to the fight was that Tess went over to Brenda and explained it her and the negative thing,I don't really think she did anything negative.
2:If I were Tess I would of went to Richard and said that he needs to stop lying about other people and that he needs to stop teasing me.
3:Yes,I think it teaches tweens a lesson in life by that someone in life might try to "get back" at you by spreading rumors and lying.
the positive side would be that Tess stood up for herself. the negative side is that Tess almost got into a fight with Brenda. I think the author tried to teach "tweens" and young teenagers to stand up for themselves.
The positive thing was that the first thing Tess though of was to talk to Brenda.I would have walked up to her and said do you have proof that I said these things about you.I think the lesson the author is trying to teach 'tweens' is that not to fight or be violante.Probobly most 'tweens' when they here about a fight they're thinking 'oh a fight' or they are incourgeing someone to fight.
Well the positive thing for Tess would be that she is not getting into a fight with brenda any more because she talked to brenda about Richards actions. The negative thing would probably be that Richard is still doing evil things to try to hurt Tess, by putting her in a situation that someone would not want to be in.
Part 1
The positive ting about the rumored fight is that she quickly got out of it in a peaceful way. The negative, Richard's plans are getting to be violent.
Part 2
This is a Colton Stevens style idea. Buy bus tickets to Canada. Once in the capitol city, I would buy a plane ticket to Africa and jump out with a parachute and land somewhere, then live by myself in the wild.
Part 3
Never try to get someone else into a fight for a silly thing.
